As if their image problem wasn't enough, Gibson is being investigated for having illegally harvested wood for their guitars. The floods hit Gibson hard, so this is another in the way of bad news.
I hope that things recover for Gibson so that they can go back to making world class Les Pauls and Strats. Isn't what what we love them for anyway?

Two of my favorite guitar makers
Two of my favorite guitar makers happen to be Paul Reed Smith guitars and Fret-King guitars. Both are constructed with meticulous engineering and attention to detail. Recently I was reading on the UK Top Rated Guitars blog about PRS guitars. Tim Warrior describes all of the beauty of the instruments that they produce.
I really liked the videos that take you through the factory tour and showing you some great background history about the various models. Guitar players have been enjoying these spectacular axes for a long time now, even though relatively speaking Paul Reed Smith is a newer company when compared to say Gibson.

Zakk Wylde
Zakk Wylde and EMG have teamed up to bring you a great new prize for anybody that can shred like the monster himself. This is an exciting contest that I just learned about.
You need to practice your favorite Zakk riffs so that you can upload them and hopefully get his attention. I guess the best part is that Zakk will get a chance to see some of his fans doing their guitar playing thing. I mean what could be better than that?

Wood and Steel features Dave Matthews
Dave Matthews is one of my favorite bands because of the wonderful live music that the band plays. Have you ever seen then live?
Wood and Steel magazine have featured dave in the latest issue. Dave talks about how the band has evolved and their latest album. One of the things that rock about the band is their versatility on all the instruments including the guitar.

I want to solo like crazy
I love doing solos over cord changes and the more cord changes, the better. If you pay attention to the way that the backink tracks are done, usually you can make out some scales that will fit with it.
I personally prefer to do like Eddie Van Halen and the way that he plays the guitar.
I loved the way that he rocked on Van Hallen I, the first album. He solos and plays the chord changes flawlessly
